Berisso, Industrial City

Berisso is an old industrial city, located several kilometers south of Buenos Aires; during a period of prosperity, it grew to become an important industrial hub. It was once prosperous and a promise for the European immigrants who arrived on the shores of La Plata.

Almost a century later, this factory city moves at a slower pace. Walking through its streets, one can perceive an air of strangeness in what remains: façades marked by time, leaden chimneys that shrink beneath the sky, and the inhabitants of all of it.

After many visits to the city, I began to comprehend the way an afternoon passes in that stillness, drawing closer to those who inhabit it, and to perceive what is everyday to them. Through the camera, these encounters seek to reflect not only the history of the city, but also an interest in that which remains apart and strange.
